" I know of the Link Care Center in Fresno, CA. Among the counselling they do, there is some for missionaries who are returning from the field. I highly recommend it, I believe God uses this place mightily, especially to help Christian workers who have gone through heartache, disappointment etc." Sincerely, Mika Takamaki

offers a one-week Debriefing And Renewal (DAR) program four times each year in February, May, August, and November. These programs are unique since a parallel program is offered for school aged children who come with their parents. From infants to teens, there is something for everyone in the family. This is intended for anyone going through a time of transition not just for those who are having "problems." More information

For those mission administrators who plan to provide, or want to enrich their debriefing and renewal counsel to their personnel, Mission Training International is also offering a program next February 5-9, 2001 called "Consultation On Debriefing And Renewal" (CODAR).

Tuscarora Resource Center, PENNSYLVANIA.
A resource on the east coast is Tuscarora Resource Center. It handles counseling for pastors and their families, missionaries, specific re-entry, MK counseling etc. It is located in a very unusual setting, in the Pennsylvania countryside about 20 minutes from Sucasunna New Jersey, and very close to Mt. Bethel, PA. The "campus" is a Bavarian style residence designed by a dentist for use as his own home. When he moved out he was looking for a Christian organization that would use it for ministry and sold it for far less than what it was worth. You can find out more by writing to:Tuscarora Resource Center, 870 Sunrise Blvd., Mount Bethel, PA 18343-6006TEL: (570) 897-5115FAX: (570) 897-0144. E-mail:

Missionary Care Services, DENVER www.sca-solutions.org
Missionary Care Services is a branch of Southwest Counseling Associates in Littleton, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. It's an excellent outpatient center, and they can help missionaries locate housing and vehicles when in town for extended times.

World View Center, PORTLAND
I'm in private practice, based in the World View Center which is run by the Institute for International Christian Communication (it's a missionary training center), in Portland, Oregon. I'm a veteran missionary (Indonesia) and Pastor (10yrs) prior to returning to school (Western Seminary) for a degree in counseling. My specialty is the mission community and, actually, anyone in full time Christian service. I have housing capabilities for singles, couples, and sometimes families. They're not plush, but certainly adequate for short term debriefs and such. My address is 6012 SE Yamhill, Portland, OR 97215. Phone 503-872-3769; eMail:

My husband and I offer a workshop for those in transition or seeking to discover and/or understand God's call. The workshop (called LifeFOCUS Journey) is a ministry of LEGACY Forums, an affiliate of The Navigators. The workshop is generally 7 or 14 weeks in length (though it is "adjustable"). It seeks not to help people create an ideal future, but to help them discover God's best for their lives (His plan) -- and then act on it.
