Introduction
Back in the early eighties I left my job as the managing director of new car distributor and began to work on the development of a private foundation The DCI Trust which was and still is to support the training of new leaders in the poorer nations, to help launch new culturally appropriate projects on behalf of the 'lost, last and the least' of the world.
Twenty years on I am still in the driving seat despite numerous attempts to hand over the reins, and the foundation now has a network of schools, mission projects and social action activities under way from China to Chile and from Alaska to Argentina.
Until recently the job has required a lot of supervisory and conference travel, although as others on the field have become mature and as the Internet has become globally available the journeys have lessened.
Nevertheless hardly a day goes by without my having to respond to numerous e-mails in several languages and if necessary initiate an appropriate action at home or overseas. The challenge is to be able to do this efficiently and inexpensively when away from home.
